Rolex Datejust II
The Datejust is the epitome of a timeless watch, timeless in terms of performance and aesthetics. It appeared in 1945. This watch was the world’s first self-winding waterproof chronometer-certified watch with a date window at 3 o’clock. The look embodies Rolex’s major innovations and inventions at that time, laying a milestone for the modern eye. From an aesthetic point of view, the different models of Datejust still retain their original aesthetic features after the baptism over the years. As a result, Datejust has become one of the most recognizable watches.
Rolex and the new Datejust 41 use the same 41 mm diameter case as the prestigious Datejust II watch series. First launched in 2009 in Rolesor gold and steel and full stainless steel in 2012, Datejust II completes the collection with a strong personality and dynamism. The 41 mm Oyster case of the Datejust II is guaranteed water-resistant to 100 meters and highly sturdy. The unique middle case is cast from corrosion-resistant original block 904L stainless steel.
The case back is screwed on by a fantastic tool of the Rolex watchmaker, making the case sealed. The winding crown features a patented double-lock waterproof system and is securely screwed on the case. The mirror is made of scratch-resistant sapphire glass, and there is a convex-transparent enlarged calendar window at 3 o’clock for easy reading of the date. The fully sealed Datejust II Oyster case provides the best protection for precise movement.
The Datejust II uses the 3136 self-winding mechanical movements entirely developed by Rolex. Like all perpetual movements, Caliber 3136 has received the Official Accredited Timepiece Certification, awarded exclusively to precision watches tested by the Swiss Chronometer Testing Center (COSC). The construction of this movement is the same as that of all Oyster movements, and it is accurate and reliable.
As the heart of the watch, its balance wheel uses Rolex’s patented blue Parachrom hairspring, made in-house in a unique alloy. This hairspring is not disturbed by magnetic fields, remains stable under temperature changes, and is ten times more resistant to shocks than traditional hairsprings. Thanks to the Rolex patented Paraflex cushioning device. The shock resistance is increased by 50%.
